Meghan Markle will celebrate her first birthday as a member of the royal family when she turns 37 this Saturday, August 4th. That date is extra special to Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s late mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, shared the same birth date as Meghan.

The Queen Mother was born in 1900 and would have been 118 this year. She passed away in 2002, at the age of 101. The date will most likely be bittersweet for Queen Elizabeth II as she celebrates her newest family member, but remembers her late mother.

Though this is her first "royal birthday,” Meghan reportedly plans to celebrate her day in an unexpected way. She and Prince Harry are set to attend a friend's wedding in Surrey, England. The ceremony is for one of Prince Harry's oldest pals from school, Charlie van Straubenzee. Prince Harry is even serving in the wedding party as best man, reports Hello!.
It is likely that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be in attendance too. Thomas van Straubenzee, the groom’s older brother, is one of William's best friends and is one of Princess Charlotte's godparents, according to People.

For her birthday last year, Meghan celebrated on an African safari with Prince Harry. A source told The Sun that Prince Harry "made the trip incredibly romantic. They’ll go on boats across the lake, walk in the bush at dawn and camp under the stars." Not too shabby, Harry.
We wonder if he has anything romantic planned for Meghan’s birthday this weekend.
